What should we name our bull calves?

We need some suggestions on naming our new bull calves. I like the names Chuck Roast and T-Bone what do you think? We’re looking for two names that sounds good together.

Here’s a video we took yesterday of the calves on the compost pile. They love to play on it ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Our first steers we raised for beef were Holsteins. We named them T-Bone and Stew. They turned out very tasty, tender and lean.

We are looking into getting our own dairy cow. So these you are raising for beef? How do you like the Jersey beef? Are they pure Jersey or Jersey X?

Jersey beef is the best you’ll find. The fat is nice and yellow (full of vitamins!). Jersey’s have a bit less weight on them than traditional beef breeds… but you can get a pure breed Jersey and put a meatier bull on her and there you go… ๐Ÿ™‚ In a taste test… Jersey would win, pound for pound… it’s a bit more expensive to produce… because processing costs are usually fixed per head amounts. WE LOVE JERSEYS. The bulls in this post are full Jersey. We kept them intact to use them for breeding. This years bulls we are banding (to use for meat)… since we already have breeder bulls.

  3. We ended up choose the names Benny and Clyde! ๐Ÿ™‚

You could call them lunch and dinner! We always named ours T-bone and Hamburger. Happy Mother’s Day!
